The PS3 we got failed on CD loading, the time to get a replacement was not even given a 4-6 weeks for delivery, they said, maybe in a couple of months. We got our money back, bought a Nintendo Wii with two remotes and nunchuks, a classic joystick and two games for the same price, actually it was less. I was going to get an SD card but I already had a couple and it wasn't neccessary, that would of brought it close. We purposely spent as much of the refund as possible to see just how much better we could do going with Nintendo. I have to say we made the right choice. We have 7 games, 3 controllers and a system that works flawlessly. It hooked up to the internet right away and after updating we were on our way. Oh I forgot to mention we also got a Wii points card and downloaded 3 games so that brings the total to 10. I liked the idea of the PS3 for the BluRay technology and the HDTV but in reality, unless you have a 50 inch TV you don't get the full benefits from HDTV and you can't even buy anything recorded on BluRay. Maybe in the future I may look at the PS3 again after some revisions but for now I will stick with a classic company that hasn't failed to deliver me fun right out of the box.

I have always been an avid sony (playstation) fan, and will remain as long as sony is in the games buisness. My ps3, does not freeze, fail to load cds, dvds, blue-rays (i have 3) nor does it shut down from overheating even after 8 straight hours of game play. I do admit that sony might have rushed the consoles on to the market to compete against the XBOX 360. However the power of the machine, (cell processor) and it's future capabilities towers over the competition. The only downside i see for now is the lack of games. microsoft buys developpers, sony makes great games and great games developpers stay loyal to sony (mostly). Anyway the games i look foward to are all on PS3 (FFXIII, assasin's creed, killzone, resident evil 5, metal gear solid 4, resistance fall of man) and many more. The wii doesn't do anything for me. anyway i'm satisfied with my purchase and know that when you guys see the future games that the ps3 will have ...everyone will jump onboard.

The Xbox 360 has a better GPU, there's no way that Sony can get the PS3 to look better unless they upgrade their GPU, which I don't see them doing.

Sure the cell processor is neat, and it might be able to handle some quirky algorithms and whatnot, but in no way can the cell processor make better graphics, it's IMPOSSIBLE. Also IBM themselves, who made BOTH CPU's for both game units, said the cell was nowhere near as powerful as sony had been claiming and then in real world applications, its barely faster/more powerful then the power pc's cpu's of the Xbox 360.

In a year, the PS3 might be able to do more than the Xbox 360 processor wise ... but no way can it look better, the GPU just isn't as good as the 360s ... ports or not, the 360 is the winner for this gen, as far as graphics are concerned.

Xbox 360 = Better GPU, great processor.

PS3 = Lesser GPU, and a processor capable of doing more than the 360, IF the developers can even write for it ... it's highly known that the 360 is MUCH much easier to make games on than the PS3.

You ask me, with the games that are already out for the Xbox 360, plus it's live/internet support, it is currently stomping the PS3s.

The Xbox's GPU turned out to be anywhere from 20% to 30% faster/more powerful then the PS3's GPU, and lets face it, the GPU is what dictates how good graphics looks, not the CPU.

ive been a long time fan of PS2 and was not a big fan of XBOX only titles. After a trip to the local game rental store i counted 9 PS3 games and at leaest 35 XBOX games. HMMMM looks like someone has a better selection, and garphic wise they look about equal, so i have to say I am swayong toward the XBOX. If they would make XBOX live free i would be sold long ago( is there really a need for a fee)

The PS3 does 1080p and surround 7.1 through it's HDMI output, both of which the 360 cannot do.

Isn't Madden 08 in 1080P for the 360, and only 720P for the PS3? Plus the 360 has 60FPS for that whereas the PS3 has 30FPS.

I'm not surprised that demand for the PS3 is slipping. Sure, there's some fancy tech under the hood but it's woefully lacking in the one department that matters most...the games. Sony had a plethora of exclusive licenses to boast about in the past but those days are long gone. Most of the titles Luc mentions are also coming to the Xbox360 so they're not pushing the PS3 hardware significantly over the 360 besides maybe a slight improvement in resolution and that's not even noticable unless you have a 50+ in display. Don't even get me started on Sony's pathetic online gaming strategy. Nope, Xbox360 has everything I want and then some so I think I'll stay on this wagon, thank you. But you know Luc, you're more than welcome to 'jump in' when the PS3 doesn't pan out the way you hoped ^^

Oh and don't forget about the Wii. Always some fun to be had there as well :D

I simply wanted to say, that from a technical standpoint the PS3 is somewhat superior. When it comes to the game library then of course the 360 is better off. I own all of the three next gen consoles, xbox live is a charm compared to the sony network. The ps3 is a very decent blu-ray player, if you enjoy watching HD movies.

It doesnt matter on which console the games come out as long as they are great games....

Metroid prime is one killer game, the wii controls are quite amazing, try it if you havent already.

It would be better if the PS3 didn't have so many bottlenecks in it's architecture, and wasn't so hard to program for.

Although the 360's GPU is better, the PS3's CPU handels graphic codes much better than the 360's. Because of the cells power it also produces much better AI (artificial intelligence), better animation and more realisitc textures. So the CPU does contribute to graphics afterall plus the RAM is shard between the CPU and GPU equally unlike the 360. PSN is also very good considering it's free from the online gaming point of veiw it performs the same if not better than xbox live because so many more people use XBL but PSN lacks a few feaures. Overall i think that the PS3 will win the console war. The cell processor does way more than alot of people think.

PS3 is lacking way too much, and I've heard of some outrageous stories about the PS3, like the console unable to read PS3 games, and mid game crashing. Unlike what Luc said, a lot of game developers, key deveopers, are now going multi-platform, for almost all systems including the PC. I'don't feel that the PS3 will have such a huge following this time around the bend. There will be some ups like the CPU and advanced AI, but other then that, I wouldn't pay the 450$-550$ for it.
