Kaillie Humphries, Phylicia George golden at bobsleigh World Cup

Canada's Kaillie Humphries and Phylicia George scored women's bobsleigh gold at a World Cup event in Altenberg, Germany, on Saturday.

It's the first medal captured by the duo, who had teamed up just once before on the World Cup circuit. Humphriesand George posted a two-run time of one minute, 52.62 seconds for the win.

"It feels really good and we are happy with the performance. Phylicia and I worked really hard during the Christmas break. To be able to come out and perform, in only Phylicia's second race, is great,"said Humphries.

"We made big gains today with good pushes and I'm happy with how I drove. We are happy to walk away with the track record and we know there is lots of room to grow."

The Canadians were able to claim their 1st gold medal together at the IBSF Bobsleigh and Skeleton World Cup in Altenberg, Germany

It was the 22nd career victory for Humphries and 47th career World Cup podium to go along with her four world championship and two Olympic medals.

It was the first career podium for George who has fit right in on Canada's top women's sled in just her second World Cup race ever.

"It is a great feeling. I was excited to get back racing this weekend and to be able to make big strides after the work we put in over the break. Knowing where I was in September to where I am now I am very happy,"said George.

Americans Jamie Greubel Poser and Aja Evans took silver with a time of 1:53.31, while the German team of Anna Koehler and Annika Drazekclocked in at 1:53.52 toclaimbronze.

AlysiaRissling and Heather Moysewere 10that 1:54.45 and Christine de Bruin and Cynthia Appiahfinished 13th with a time of 1:54.73 to round out the Canadian sleds in the field.
