Stained Glass Butterfly Crowns

Can you believe that summer is almost over?  
Time to celebrate EVERYTHING summer for the next few weeks…that includes many trips to the beach, camp fires, picking flowers and celebrating butterflies!

To honour our winged friends, we made ourselves some butterfly crowns. 

To make your own you will need:

• cardstock or bristol board
• tissue paper
• glue stick
• scissors

To begin we made a template of what our butterfly would look like. When I get stuck on making a template I Google it. Try "butterfly templates" and you will come up with loads. We cut out spaces on the wings, this is where we will be adding our tissue paper to pretty them up! Now trace onto card stock and cut out.

The rest of it is all for your pint-sized helpers. Let them choose what colours of tissue paper they would like.
I helped my daughter trace it, and she cut it out.

Now take your gluestick and glue the back and press your tissue paper all into place.

Using a piece of bristol board we cut out a headband (or crown). Glue the ends together or staple if you prefer.

Now add your butterfly...

and flutter around, swinging, singing, dancing. You, my dear, are a butterfly queen!!
