A Printable Cloud Scavenger Hunt For Sky-Gazing Summer Days

By CBC Parents Staff

Look up. Way up!

See those puffy, cotton candy clouds? Well, the sky that engulfs them is really a canvas. And those puffers? That's sky paint.

Finding art wherever you are can be a really great way to daydream and use your imagination. And encouraging kids to really look at the paint (clouds!) and brushstrokes (the swirls and curves of clouds!) will inspire so many fantastic observations.

Dreaming and seeing beyond what's in front of you definitely reminds me of Giraffes Don't Dance, this week's episode of season two of The Story StoreA giraffe makes the huge move from Small Town Zoo to Big City Zoo, and he has big dreams to be a ballet-dancing giraffe. But he gets a wake-up call: giraffes don't dance, because it's against the law! Will a giraffe's dream come true? Listen in now wherever you listen to podcasts.

And while you do, we decided to make a fun activity to accompany your listening. And it's a CBC Parents favourite: a scavenger hunt. Click the image below to enlarge or print!

So, grab a blanket — or if you don't mind grass stains, no blanket — and apply some suncreen, and chill out and look up, up, up.

Will you spot a giraffe? A ballerina? A truck? The sky's the limit with this scavenger hunt, so if you check off all the items on this list, keep gazing — who knows what you will see!

New to The Story Store? Lucky! That means you have season one to catch up on! You can listen here
