Peg Doll And Pine Cone Turkeys

Thanksgiving is just around the corner! Here's a fun and festive little craft to whip up with the kiddies.

You Will Need:

• peg dolls in assorted sizes (available at craft stores)
• pine cones (smaller sizes)
• brown and black paint
• paintbrushes
• red pipecleaners
• yellow felt
• scissors
• glue gun and glue sticks
• feathers

Instructions:

1. Gather gather up your peg dolls and pine cones. Make sure the pine cones are the right size for your peg dolls—I found smaller-sized pine cones worked best. The pine cones will be your turkey tails.

2. Paint the peg dolls brown. You can use acrylic or watercolour paints (I prefer the subtle effect of watercolours).

3. Paint or draw two eyes on each peg doll. Cut a small diamond shape from yellow felt and a small piece of red pipe cleaner.

4. To assemble the beak, wrap the diamond shaped yellow felt around the centre of the red pipe cleaner. Glue it onto your peg doll, bending the edges of the pipe cleaner downwards.

5. Glue the bottom end of a pine cone to the back of the peg doll. Make sure to glue it high on the back of the peg doll, so it stands flat. 

6. Embellish with feathers. Put a dab of hot glue on the end of each feather. Stick the feathers into the pine cone.

These will look fantastic on your Thanksgiving table or make for great Thanksgiving imaginative play.
