WEEKEND STORM SUMMARY

What a Storm!!!

-Unbelievable Metro Rain totals. In less than 24 hours, Logy Bay picked up 93 mm, East White Hills: 83 mm, MUN: 81 mm, Pippy Park: 72 mm. All of which are unofficial Weather stations.

-Officially, St. John's YYT picks up 71 mm overall, in just under 24 hours. 65.2 mm of that fell on Sunday, which shatters the previous Feb 12th 1921 record of 38.6 mm! We were just 2 mm shy of the record for the Rainiest February day ever, which was set back at the Airport on Feb 22nd 1973, when 67 mm of Rain fell.

-Rodney Barney was doing some digging and found an old St. John's Weather Station, pre-dating YYT, had even higher February Rains. It's record? 102.9 mm on Feb 13th 1892!!!

-The same Storm dropped 38 cm of Snow in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Sunday. From Friday-Sunday you folks picked up 52 cm total. Your Snow depth on the ground now is 160 cm!!!

-As expected the temperatures were really warm: EC sites reaching double digits on Sunday included: Daniel's Harbour: 11.5, Argentia: 10.5, Deer Lake 10.6, Corner Brook 10.0.

-Top Wind Gusts: Wreckhouse measured 148 km/h before the anemometer failed. Sagona Island 138 km/h. Bell Island Lighthouse in Conception Bay: 129 km/h, In Port aux Basques, 115 km/h Wind Gusts were powerful enough to produce Waves like this!!!
