Princess Charlotte photos released ahead of 1st birthday

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have released four new photos of their daughter, Princess Charlotte, ahead of her first birthday on Monday.

Kensington Palace used Twitter on Sunday to share the images, taken by her mother, Catherine Middleton, at the couple's home in Norfolk, England.

Charlotte was six months old the last time Prince William and Catherine used the social media website to share photos of the young royal playing at home.

In two of the newly released photos, the princess appears ready to take her first steps.

Charlotte was born on May 2 and is fourth in line to the throne.
