Police in Steubenville, Ohio, are accused of covering up the case of a teenaged girl's sexual assault, because the 2 males charged are part of the town's beloved high school football team

Outrage over the alleged rape of a girl by two high-school football players has exploded in eastern Ohio, as protesters continue accusing police of covering up the case due to the star-athlete profiles of the two accused 16-year-olds.

The alleged incident is said to have occurred one night last August after a night of partying in the city of Steubenville. The victim, also 16 years old, was allegedly raped multiple times and then urinated on by the two defendants. Pictures, tweets and videos of the incident surfaced on the internet.

Online commentators who said they attended the same party alleged that the girl was unable to resist as she appeared to be either drunk or drugged.

Now the "hacktivist" group known as Anonymous is demanding justice and has taken credit for spreading a separate video of another local teen joking with friendsabout the girl's ordeal as others in the room chastize him for laughing about "raping a girl."

The lawyer of that teen denies the teen was present during the alleged incident.
