Reporter Brett Ruskin helps woman in labour during Halifax snowstorm

Brett Ruskin is one of a kind.

Not only did hehelp apregnant woman who was in labour to safety in treacherous winter conditions, but he also managed totweetand tapethe story at the same time.

For Ruskin, it began asanother day doing yeoman's work as avideojournalistin the never-ending 2015 winter.

He had been on the scene in Halifax, where emergency responderswere trying to reach a pregnant woman.

Crews cleared a path to the womans house. She was put on a sled and taken in an ambulance to the hospital.

Ruskin was preparing to file a story and call it a day when he heard a cry:"Help me, Im in labour!

According to Global News, Ruskinput down his camera and crawled through the snow to a woman calling for help.When he reached her, he learned that she wasone week overdue and having contractions.

Ruskin helped the woman back through the snow to even ground and promptly called 911.

He had to explain to the dispatchers that there was, in fact, a second pregnant woman who needed help at the same location where crews had just been.

Ruskin and the pregnant woman managed to get to aneighbours house where they waited for an ambulance.

Again, Ruskin was prepared to head out when the story began gaining traction on Twitter. Hours later, the story was going viral and he was reporting on his own rescue work.

Many on Twitter suggestedthat one of the pregnant women should name her newborn Brett. But alas, it was not to be.

And late Wednesday night, Ruskin learned the name of the second woman's baby.
