SpaceX pushes satellite launch, rocket landing to Friday

SpaceX has again postponed an attempt to launch a Falcon 9 rocket and land the main stage on a barge, after three previous cancelled launch attempts in the past week.

The latest launch attempt wasscheduled to take place from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida at 6:35 p.m. ET.

However, SpaceXCEO Elon Musk tweeted shortly before 4 p.m. ET that the launch had been pushed to Fridaydue to bad weather at high altitudes.

The rocket, carrying a Boeing satellite, was originally scheduled to launch on Feb. 24. That launch was cancelled due to problems loading liquid oxygen propellant into the rocket. So was a rescheduled launch the next day.

Another launch attempt on Sunday was halted after a boat crossed into the restricted zone near the launch site. Holding for the boat caused the temperature of the oxygen in the rocket to rise to the point that it triggered an alarm, SpaceX's Elon Musk tweeted, and the launch had to be called off.

When the launch finally goes ahead,SpaceX will attempt to land the main stage of the rocket on a barge at sea. Three previous attempts to do that have failed, although the company successfully landed a smaller rocket back on its launch pad on land in December.
