A U.S. company is marketing a germ-zapping robotas a way to disinfect hospital rooms used by Ebola patients.

Therobotmade by San Antonio, Texas-based Xenex Disinfection Servicesuses pulses of powerful UV light to killbacteria,fungi and viruses, including the Ebola virus. Each unit costs $115,000.

The robotiswheeled into a hospital roomand operated when it's empty todisinfect a three-metre radius around the machine.

Company CEO Morris Miller told Fox Business that Xenex'srobots arecurrently used in 250 hospitals across the U.S. and the company is working with charities to provide a discount forhospitals in East Africa.

The robot is in use at the Dallas hospital where the first U.S. case of Ebola is being treated.
