Senate expenses: CP names 21 other senators named in audit

Auditor general Michael Ferguson's comprehensive audit of Senate expenses, to be released publicly Tuesday, spans a two-year period and names 30 senators, including nine whose files are being recommended for referral to the RCMP.

The other 21 senators are:

Leo Housakos: Conservative Speaker of the Senate since May 4. Appointed as a Quebec senator by Stephen Harper in 2008. A businessman.

Claude Carignan: Government leader in the Senate since 2013. Appointed as a Quebec senator by Stephen Harper in 2009. A lawyer, law professor and former mayor of Saint-Eustache.

James Cowan:Opposition leader in the Senate since 2008. Appointed a Nova Scotia senator by Paul Martin in 2005. A lawyer and partner in one of the largest law firms in Atlantic Canada.

Jean-Guy Dagenais:A Quebec Conservative senator since 2012. Appointed by Stephen Harper. A former police officer. Losing candidate in the 2011 federal election.

Joseph Day:A New Brunswick Liberal senator since 2001. Appointed by Jean Chretien. An advocate for veterans and an unsuccessful contender for the leadership of the New Brunswick Liberal party in 1982.

Nicole Eaton:An Ontario Conservative senator since 2009. Appointed by Stephen Harper. A philanthropist and patron of a number of charitable and artistic groups.

Janis Johnson: A Conservative senator from Manitoba since 1990. Appointed by Brian Mulroney. Former businesswoman. Widow of Frank Moores, former premier of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Noel Kinsella: Conservative New Brunswick senator 1990-2014. Appointed by Brian Mulroney. Speaker of the Senate 2006-2014. A university professor.

Sandra Lovelace Nicholas: Liberal senator from New Brunswick since 2005. Appointed by Paul Martin. Native activist, first aboriginal woman senator.

Elaine McCoy: Liberal senator from Alberta since 2005. Appointed by Paul Martin. A lawyer and former Alberta cabinet minister.

Terry Mercer: A Nova Scotia Liberal senator since 2003. Appointed by Jean Chretien. Former Liberal fundraiser.

Pana Merchant: A Liberal senator from Saskatchewan since 2002. Appointed by Jean Chretien. A teacher and businesswoman.

Lowell Murray: A Conservative senator from Ontario 1979-2011. Appointed by Joe Clark. Longtime Conservative party adviser. Served in Brian Mulroney's cabinet.

Dennis Patterson: A Conservative senator for Nunavut since 2009. Appointed by Stephen Harper. Former premier of the Northwest Territories.

Robert Peterson: A Liberal senator from Saskatchewan since 2005. Appointed by Paul Martin. Engineer and entrepreneur.

Don Plett: A Manitoba senator since 2009. Appointed by Stephen Harper. A businessman and community and sports activist.

Vivienne Poy: A Liberal senator 1998-2012. Appointed by Jean Chretien. A fashion designer and former chancellor of the University of Toronto, Sister-in-law of former governor general Adrienne Clarkson.

Nancy Greene Raine: A Conservative senator from British Columbia since 2009. Appointed by Stephen Harper. Olympic gold medal skier named Canada's female athlete of the last century by the Canadian Press and Broadcast News. Officer of the Order of Canada.

Nick Sibbeston: A Liberal senator for the Northwest Territories since 1999. Appointed by Jean Chretien. Former premier of the Northwest Territories.

Terry Stratton: A Manitoba Conservative senator 1993-2013. Appointed by Brian Mulroney. A businessman and consultant.

David Tkachuk: A Conservative senator for Saskatchewan since 1993. Appointed by Brian Mulroney. He served as principal secretary to former Conservative premier Grant Devine.
