Advance voting starts today, runs through the Thanksgiving weekend

Canadians who have already made up their minds about who to vote for this federal election can get a head start as of Friday.

Advancevoting runs from Oct. 11-14

Canadians who've already made up their minds about who they're voting for in the federal election can get a head start this Thanksgiving weekend.

Advancevoting runsfrom 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Fridaythrough the holiday Monday at assigned polling stations.

To find the right pollingstation, would-be electors (that's any registered Canadian age18 and older)can check out theElections Canada website or call 1-800-463-6868. The location is also written on the voter identification cards sent out to nearly 27 million Canadians.

Voters will have to show identification that includes a home address, such as a driver's licence.

"At the last election, more electors than ever voted early atadvancepolls," said Chief Electoral Officer Stphane Perraultin an emailed statement.

"Advancepollswill be open for longer hours and there will be moreadvancepollingstations to better serve Canadians."

Voting on campus ran from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9and wasbyspecialballot, withvoters casting their ballots forwhereverthey consider their home riding to be.

Voters have also been able to cast a ballot at anyElections Canada office daily until 6 p.m., and can do so untilOct. 15. That's also the deadline to registerto vote by mail. The federal election takes place on Oct. 21.
