WolfCop 2 to start filming in Saskatchewan

Producers say shooting will begin in February on WolfCop 2, the sequel to director Lowell Dean's horror-comedy about an alcoholic small-town cop who is also cursed with being a werewolf.

Lock up the liquor, everyone's favourite inebriated, hirsute lawman is coming back to Saskatchewan.

Producers say shooting will begin in February on WolfCop 2,the sequel to Canadiandirector Lowell Dean's horror-comedy about an alcoholic small-town cop who is also cursed with being a werewolf.

Actor Leo Fafard will return to play officer Lou Garoua play on the French phrase for "werewolf" while Amy Matysio is back as his partner Tina.

Creative Saskatchewan and Cinecoup made the announcement on Thursday.

Producer Bernie Hernando promises the sequel will be bigger, badder, dirtier and hairier.

"We're excited to get the band back together after all this time," Hernando said. "Many of the key creatives on the original project were from Saskatchewan; we considered the initial opportunity to bring a homegrown script to life, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Now it's twice-in-a-lifetime."

J.P. Ellson, CEO of Creative Saskatchewan, saidWolfCopis an example of a Saskatchewan film industry success story.

"We're pleased to offer financial support to the sequel and look forward to welcoming the production back to our province."

A release date for WolfCop 2has not been set, but producers hope to screen the finished product as early as the summer of 2016.
