Trailer Park Boys to revive hit series online

The hit seriesTrailer Park Boysis making a comeback, with new episodes of the profanity-laced cult hit mockumentary set to debut on the lead actors' new web channel, SwearNet.com.

Comic actors Robb Wells, John Paul Tremblay and Mike Smithbetter known by their TPB alter egos Ricky, Julian and Bubbles, respectively announced Thursday that they have acquired the rights to the Nova Scotia-set franchise from original producers Mike Clattenburg, Barrie Dunn and Mike Volpe.

"While the three of us have moved on to different TV and film projects, the Boys are the only ones with the intimate knowledge and love of the show to keep Trailer Park Boys alive and well," Clattenburg said in a statement.

Since the Gemini-winning TV show's debut in 2001,Trailer Park Boys has become a fixture of the Canadian comedy scene. The series centres on the ridiculous illicit activities and antics of three petty crookstailed by a documentary crew as they go about their lives in a quirkymobile homecommunity known as Sunnyvale.

Though the TV showended in 2008, the TPB story continued in subsequent productions such as the 2009 film Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day.

The deal announced Thursday includes rights to the original TV series, subsequent specials, the first and second Trailer Park Boys feature films, and all assets and intellectual property rights related to the franchise. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The actors' acquisition does not include the recently completed, as-yet unreleased third feature film, tentatively titled Trailer Park Boys 3: Don't Legalize It.

A new season of Trailer Park Boys is in pre-production and is slated to debut on Swearnet.com, the internet channel the actors unveiled earlier this year.
