Paul Walker's death sparks grief, shock on social media

Actor Paul Walker, best known for the Fast and Furious movie series, died in a car crash north of Los Angeles late Saturday night. Soon after news of his death broke, friends, colleagues and fans turned to social media to express their shock and grief and to honour the 40-year-old.

Actor Paul Walker, best known for the Fast and Furious movie series, died in a car crash north of Los Angeles late Saturday night. Soon after news of his death broke, friends, colleagues and fans turned to social media to express their shock and grief and to honour the 40-year-old.

Their messages included the following:

Vin Diesel, who starred alongside Walker in the Fast and Furious films, posted a picture of the two on Instagram and wrote: "Brother I will miss you very much. I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in Peace."

Actor Dwayne Johnson wrote on Twitter: "All my strength, love & faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find our strength.. in his light. Love you brother."

Rapper Ludacris posted a photograph from the set of Fast and Furious 6 on Instagram with a caption reading "Thankful for the fast family." He also wrote, rhyming: "Your humble spirit was felt from the start, wherever you blessed your presence you always left a mark, we were like brothers & our birthdays are only 1 day apart, now You will forever hold a place in all of our hearts."

On Facebook, actor Tyrese Gibson expressed his shock and disbelief: "My heart hurts it's broken no one can convince me that this is realI can't believe I'm writing this."

He also asked people to pray for Walkers 15-year-old daughter, Meadow.

Actress Jordana Brewster, who played Walkers love interest in The Fast and the Furious, tweeted this morning: "Paul was pure light. I cannot believe he is gone."

Walker was filming the latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise, directed by James Wan. Wan tweeted: "I am so beyond heartbroken right now. I can't process anything."
