The CBC Music host previews new releases by the Red Hot organization, Kings of Leon and Lindi Ortega.

Lively collaborations, a welcome comeback and a fiery crossover feature in CBC host Tom Power's latest picks of hot new releases.

First up is the latest in the "Red Hot" compilation, this time paying tribute to Afrobeat icon Fela Kuti on what would have been his 75th birthday. An eclectic group of artists from renowned singer Anglique Kidjo to QuestLove from The Roots and members of TV on the Radio, Alabama Shakes and My Morning Jacket team up for Red Hot + Fela.

Grammy-winning Nashville alt-rockers Kings of Leon return with Mechanical Bull, the sixth studio album from the family group (three brothers and a cousin). This blast of "real Southern rock" comes after rumours the band was close to breaking up. Regardless, it's filled with what some are predicting will become major hits.

Popular Toronto indie singer-songwriter Lindi Ortega also ventured down to Nashville for her latest album, Tin Star. "It's not your typical country," says Power. "It's kind of like if Dolly Parton was the lead singer of Soundgarden."
