Medical examiner to release details of Anna Nicole's death

The results of an autopsy on former model Anna Nicole Smith will be revealed Monday, a Florida medical examiner's office said Thursday.

Joshua Perper, medical examiner for Florida's Broward County, and Seminole police Chief Charlie Tiger will hold a joint news conference Monday morning to discuss the results of the autopsy, officials said.

Smith, who died suddenly Feb. 8, was discovered unconscious at the Hard Rock Cafe Hotel and Casino on the Seminole reservation in Hollywood, Fla.

After his initial examination, Perper had said he found no immediate sign of external injuries or of drug overdose on the 39-year-old Smith.

The former Guess model, Playboy playmate and reality TV star left a legacy of lawsuits, involving issues from custody of her body to that of her infant daughter.

Since her death, Smith's companion and lawyer, Howard K. Stern, has fought a host of legal battles with her estranged mother, Virgie Arthur, and one of her former boyfriends, Larry Birkhead.

Smith was eventually buried in the Bahamas on March 2.

The parties are now wrangling over the paternity and custody of Smith's infant daughter Dannielynn.

Smith drew widespread attention when she married oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall, 89, in the mid-1990s after meeting him at a strip club.

Marshall, who used a wheelchair, died after 14 months and Smith has since been fighting his family for a share of his considerable estate.

Smith's own son from a previous relationship, Daniel Wayne Smith, died suddenly in September 2006 while visiting her in the Bahamas after the birth of her daughter.
