New It trailer gives first glimpse of Pennywise the Clown

Pennywisethe Clownis back to scare a new generation.

The first full trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of Stephen King'sItwas released on Thursday. The latest film is the first of twothat will depict King's 1986 novel.

The trailer was unveiledat San Diego's Comic Con, giving fans the first glimpse.

The R-rated film takes place in the fictional town of Derry, Maine, where kids start to go missing. A group of young friends come together to form the Losers' Club and try to protect the town from Pennywise.

The first teaser trailer broke web trafficrecords for garnering the most online viewsin a 24-hour period when it was released in March.

A 1990 television adaptation of the best-selling novelstarred Tim Curry asthe terrifying clown. Fans noticed the original clown makes a brief cameo in the new trailer.

Swedish actor Bill Skarsgrdplays Pennywisein the filmand fans have been questioning whether the young actorcan live up to Curry's chilling portrayal.The cast also includes CanadianStranger Things actor Finn Wolfhardand Midnight Special's Jaeden Lieberher.

Skarsgrd, who also stars in this summer'sAtomic Blonde,appears unrecognizable in the trailer.

Movie producer BarbaraMuschietti said a range of actors wereconsidered for the role of the evil clown, including Tilda Swinton,according to NME.Muschietti saidSkarsgrd's interpretation is closer to King's novel than the 1990 miniseries.
