Fergie talks to Oprah about latest scandal

The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, will appear on The Oprah Winfrey Show airing Tuesday to discuss her latest scandal.

Her 1st interview since fee-for-access to Prince Andrew story broke

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, will tell the Queen of TV, Oprah Winfrey, her side of the story concerning the recent cash-for-access scandal.

The interview is slated to air Tuesday, according to officials at The Oprah Winfrey Show andwill be the first interviewFerguson has given since the story broke.

Ferguson was caught on video last week offering access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew, in return for 500,000 ($769,000 Cdn).

British tabloid News of the World posted video on its website showing Ferguson discussing payment terms.

She is heard to say, "500,000 when you can, to me, open doors."

The newspaper said the 50-year-old Duchess was having a fee-for-access discussion with an undercover reporter.

Ferguson married Andrew, who is fourth in line to the throne, in 1986. They had two children, princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, before divorcing in 1996.

Since then, Ferguson has written children's books, made television documentaries and acted as a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers.

She has struggled financially while complaining that her divorce settlement was paltry.

Ferguson released a statement Monday about the scandal saying she "very deeply[regrets] the situation and the embarrassment caused."

"It is true that my financial situation is under stress, however, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment and I am very sorry that this has happened," she added.

She is currently still in the U.S. and appeared on Wednesday at a book expo in New York City, addressing an audience of booksellers and librarians.
