David Letterman returns to TV with new Netflix series

More than two years aftersigning off from CBS's Late Show,David Letterman isreturning to television with a six-episode talk show on Netflix,the streaming servicesaid Tuesday.

Letterman, 70, will host the as-yet-untitled series, whichwill feature interviews with "extraordinary people" and segments from the field "expressing his curiosity and humour," Netflixsaid in a statement.

Ineach hour-long episode, Letterman will conduct a long-formconversation with a single guest, and explore topics of his ownoutside the studio.

"I feel excited and lucky to be working on this project forNetflix," Letterman said in a statement.

"Here's what I have learned: If you retire to spend moretime with your family, check with your family first. Thanks for watching, drive safely," he said.

The series is set to premiere sometimein 2018. A Netflix spokesperson told CBC News the show would be available in Canadaand globally on the same day.

In 33 years on late-night television, Letterman hosted 6,028episodes of NBC's Late Nightand CBS's Late Show,and is thelongest-running late-night broadcaster in American history. Hestepped down from Late Showin May 2015.
