Cirque du Soleil, Cameron team for 3D films

A group of entertainment heavyweights including Cirque du Soleil and Canadian director James Cameron have formed a partnership to produce theatrical 3D projects.

Shrek director Andrew Adamson and Reel FX Entertainment are also part of the 3D partnership.

Anews release from the partnership says the first project, a story written by Adamson, is in production.

Avatar director Cameron will be executive producer and will bring his unique 3D expertise to the project.

Reel FX and Cirque du Soleil Images are the production partners.

The partnership say the film yet-to-be-named is based on the premise that there are worlds beyond dreams, illusion and imagination, where human beings are capable of anything.

"Shooting with the Cirque du Soleil team has been one of the most enjoyable experiences of my professional life," Cameron said in a statement.

"It's a unique opportunity for me, and my 3D partner Vince Pace, to bring the Cirque du Soleil experience to a worldwide audience through the magic of 3D cinema."
