Julian Fellowes' Downton Abbey follow-up Doctor Thorne set for Amazon

A new series from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes is here to satisfy any fans longing to return to the English countryside of yore: Amazon Prime is set to stream his British period drama Doctor Thorne.

A new series from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes ishere tosatisfy any fans longing to return to the English countryside of yore.

Amazon Prime is set to stream his British period drama Doctor Thorne later this month.Fellowesadapted thethree-part series froma novel set in the 19thcenturyby Anthony Trollope.

The series, which debuted on Britain's ITV, will be dubbedJulian Fellowes Presents Doctor Thorne for North American audiences, with Fellowesoffering anintroduction to each episode.

Starring Tom Hollander (perhaps a familiar face tofans of AMC'sThe Night Manager), Doctor Thorne featuresa large ensemble cast and complex plot lines.

Life after Downton

After wrapping the sixth and final season of his international sensation Downton Abbey in North America earlier this year, the award-winning writer hasn't stopped working.

In April, Fellowesreleased theperiod drama Belgraviathrough anaudiobookapp. He also wrote the book for the BroadwaymusicalSchool of Rock, which is based on the 2003 film starring Jack Black.

Early Tuesday, he wasnominated for a Tony Award for his work on themusical.

"This is a great honour and I am absolutely delighted,"Fellowes said about his nod.

"I'm a comparative newcomer to this arena and so a Tony nomination is more than I ever dreamed of. I could not be more grateful."

Doctor Thorne begins on Amazon Prime in the U.S. on May 20.
