Windsor man faces 86 charges in child porn case

A 22-year-old manfrom Windsor, Ont., faces 86 charges relating to child pornography involving 26 allegedvictims from around the globe, according to the Windsor Police Service.

An investigation that started last fall has uncovered 26 complainants between the ages of 13 and 21, police said in a news release. Theyare located as far away as Australia and as close as the U.S.

The Windsor Police said its Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Sept.23, 2014.

Police arrested thesuspect andseized computers and media storage devices.The man was charged with possession, accessing and making available child pornography.

The ICE unit continued with itsinvestigation, analysingthe computers and storage devices.

Police said Thursdaythey found hundreds of videos that consisted of Skype conversations in which the suspect told males to commit various acts, which he recorded.

"My understanding is on Skype somehow, he was engaging these victims, again, around the world and then asking them various questions and asking them to do various things on camera," police spokesman Sgt. Matthew D'Asti told CBC News on Friday.

"My understanding is that his image, his own image was not presented to the victims, so they didn't know who they were talking to."

The recording were madebetween December 2013 and September 2014, police said.

On Thursday, investigators announcedfurther charges.The man now faces:

• 23 counts of luring a person under the age of 18 for the purpose of making child pornography.
• 14counts of luring a person under the age of 16 for the purpose of facilitating the offence of invitation to sexual touching.
• Five counts of luring a person under the age of 16 for the purpose of facilitating the offence of bestiality.
• 24 counts of making child pornography.
• 11 counts of Invitation to sexual touching.
• Five counts of inciting bestiality.
• Four counts of counseling bestiality.

The accused is currently being held in custody.
