Windsor-Essex police help 11 women in sex trade seek help

Police in Windsor, Chatham-Kent, LaSalle, Essex County OPP and Amberstburg worked together as partners in Operation Northern Spotlight a national law enforcement outreach program.

Police officers from across Windsor-Essexhave helped 11 vulnerable women in the sex trade industry get in contact with support agencies.

Police in Windsor, Chatham-Kent, LaSalle, Essex County OPP and Amberstburg worked together as partners in Operation Northern Spotlight a national law enforcement outreach program.

Area officers reached out to women between Oct. 10 and 13 and managed to contact 13 women, 11 of whom agreed to seek outside help.

"The Windsor Police Service is committed to fighting human trafficking through intelligence-gathering, working cooperatively with other law enforcement and community partners to support victims, and enforcement efforts," wrote Sgt. Steve Betteridge in a media release.
