Windsor police say they've arrested and charged a local man related to a child exploitation investigation.

On Tuesday, according to authorities, they launched the probe after receiving information about a child sex trafficking attempt from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) network in the United States.

They say a social media company reported a possible child sexual abuse attempt by one of its users.

The investigation led officers to a Wyandotte Street East location near Parent Avenue where an arrest was made and electronic devices were seized.

The accused is a 24-year-old Windsor man. He's been charged with making child pornography and what police referred to as"arranging a sexual offence against a child by telecommunication."
