Cyclists hoping to ride on both sides of the border will soon have another way to transport their bikes.

Transit Windsor will allow cyclists to use bike rackson the border-crossing bus starting October 31st.

"With all the trails on both sides of the border, including our own beautiful riverfront, we're sure this service will be a hit with cyclists," said executive director PatDelmore.

But being able to carry bicycles comes with some special stipulations cyclists need to follow:

  • All bikesentering the U.S. or Canada must be accompanied by an owner or authorized individual

  • Bikes entering the U.S. or Canada will remain on the racks during the border inspection unless a customs officer asks to remove them

  • Bike bags or pouches will be removed and inspected unless border officials decide doing so doesn't make sense

  • Bikes belonging to cyclists not allowed across the border will be removed and remain with their owner until they can return to their own country

The racks will allow up to two bicycles to be transported across the border at a time, Delmoresaid. Additional bikes will have to be disassembled and in a bag to be transported inside the bus.
