Police searching for swimmer who didn't make it back to shore in Leamington

A 46-year-old male swimmer went into the water off the Leamington Pier on Saturday night and did not return.

The search continues for an adult male swimmer who went into the water off the Leamington Pier on Saturday night and did not return.

Essex County OPP said their efforts to locate the 46-year-oldman continued on Sunday, including use of the OPP's underwater search and recovery unit.

The report of the missing swimmer was received by police at7:53 p.m. Saturday.

The man was one of two people who entered Lake Erie at the pier at the end of Erie Street South. Only one member of the pair made it back to shore.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area while search efforts are ongoing.
