Sunken dredge salvaged from Lake Huron

A dredge barge is no longer at the bottom of Lake Huronnear Sarnia.

The ship sunk almost two weeks ago near Sarnia. Choppy waters and high winds delayed its salvage several times in the ensuing days.

Early Monday, American crews managed to float the 30-metre barge and remove it from the water.

Clean up crews are set to do a finalinspection to make sure beaches in Michigan and St Clair County meet approval.

The sinking irked Sarnia Maryor Mike Bradley.He was upset Canadians weren't notified of the sinkinguntil four hours after it happened. Approximately 6,700 litres of fuel began leaking into the lake when the ship went down.
