PM Stephen Harper to make bridge announcement in Windsor at noon

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is set to make a pair of announcements in Windsor, Ont., today, including the possibility of naming the new international crossing between Windsor and Detroit.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper is set to make a pair of announcements in Windsor, Ont., today.

The first came at 9:30 a.m. at Valiant Machine and Tool on Eugenie Avenue, where he announced new tax incentives for Canadian manufacturers.

Harper was joined by Diane Finley, Minister of Public Works and Government Services, Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, and Jeff Watson, Member of Parliament for Essex.

The second is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. at "an undisclosed location," according to the Prime Minister's Office.

Harper will be joined by Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder at the 12:10 p.m. event. Speculation is rampant that Harper will announcement the name of the new international bridge to be built between west Windsor and west Detroit.

CBC has not been able to confirm what exactly Harper will announce with Snyder.

CBC Windsor plans to live stream the noon announcement, as it did the 9:30 a.m. event.

Wednesday night, Harper held a roundtable discussion with members of the auto parts industry at the Waterfront Hotel.
