OPP use taser on Leamington man, 3 officers injured during arrest

Police say a 19-year-old man from Leamington was being combative during a conversation with police, so they used a taser and arrested him.

OPP in Leamington used a taser on a 19-year-old Leamington man after they say he was combative.

Police responded to a call about a disturbance in a parkling lot on Erie Street South. They say a man was yelling and shouting profanities at a nearby group of people.

Police saidthey attempted to speak to the person and deescalate the situation, but he became combative. Police then used a conducted energy weapon, also known as a taser, on the man whowas then taken into custody.

Three officers were injured in the incident, and one had to be treated at a hospital.

The 19-year-old man is charged with causing a disturbance, assaulting police and resisting arrest. He was released on bail and will appear in court later this month.

An 18-year-old Windsor woman was also arrested and released. She was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and obstructing police.
