207 students suspended for incomplete immunization records

A total of 207 students with the Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board will be suspended, a spokesman confirmed.

A couple hundredstudents will be suspended Monday for having incomplete immunization records on file with the Windsor Essex County Health Unit.

A total of 207 students still had not filed their immunization records with the health unit as of Monday morning.

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board reported having 44 incomplete records, a spokesman confirmed.

Numbers have yet to be confirmed for theGreater Essex County District School Board.

The suspensions will last until Oct. 21, unless parents submit immunization records before that time.

Last week, there were still 350 incomplete records on file with the health unit. That's fewer than half of the 800 students who first received the suspension notices at the beginning of September.

Representatives from both the public and Catholic school boards say they support the health unit's decision to enforce a law that's been in place since 1990.

Parents who do not wish to vaccinate their children must submit an exemption form to the health unit.
