Free walking tours of Gordie Howe Bridge plaza Saturday

The bridge authority invite residents for a walking tour Saturday to take a closer look at the Gordie Howe International Bridge's Canadian plaza.

'We're very proud of the progress that we've made and we want to showcase that.'

The bridge authority is inviting community members to take a closer look at the Gordie Howe International Bridge's Canadian plaza witha walking tour on Saturday.

It's an opportunity for residentsto walk the construction site and see the progress first-hand.

"We're very proud of the progress we've been able to make on the Canadian plaza,"said MichaelCautillo, president and CEO of theWindsorDetroit Bridge Authority.

"What people are going to be able to see is the construction of the perimeter access road, we're going to point where the customs buildings and facilities are going to go,we're goingto point out where the main bridge is going to go."

Cautillo says the bridge authority has made arrangements with itscontractor to provide a safe area to walk through and allow access to the active construction site.

Walking tours scheduled for 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. at the corner of Sandwich and Broadway Streets, with access off Sandwich. Parking is limited. Constructionboots are not required but participants are asked to wear appropriate footwear.
