Distracted drivers busted by plainclothes Windsor police

As part of the Windsor Police Service's monthly initiative "Operation Stay Focused," plainclothes officers have been deployed in various areas of the city.

Operation runs through Thursday and possibly Friday

Plainclothes police officers are looking for distracted drivers in Windsor.

As part of the Windsor Police Service's monthly initiative "Operation Stay Focused," plainclothes officers have been deployed in various areas of the city.

The plainclothes operation started Wednesday and was still under way Thursday, with the possibility of continiung Friday, police spokesman Sgt. Matt D'Asti said.

Officers are monitoring traffic, looking for drivers using cellphones while driving. Officers who see drivers on cellphones radio information to traffic units in the area.

Wednesday, police stopped 30 vehicles in less than two hours.
