Chrysler Canada is hiring hourly production workers at its Windsor Assembly Plant.

Only candidates referred by full-time employees are eligible to be hired.

Full-time employees are able to refer one person only.

A referral does not guarantee a person will be hired.

Unifor Local 444 president Dino Chiodo says about 60 people will eventually be hired.

The names of the referred candidates will be entered into a lottery. A set number of random candidates will be drawn Aug. 20 and move on in the hiring process.

Chiodo said the last open call for applicants was more than a decade ago.

Chrysler employs about 4,500 hourly employees at its minivan plant in Windsor.
