$100K donation saves PET-CT scanner in Windsor

A $100,000 donation appears to have saved a key piece of medical equipment in Windsor.

Precision Diagnostic Imaging says it's received a $100,000 donation from AlQuesnel to repair its PET-CT scanner.

PET-CT scans are used to diagnose cancer, epilepsy and dementia. On Wednesday, Precision suspended the use of its machine because it didn't have enough money to repair it.

Approximately 500 cancer patients received PET-CT scans last year in Windsor, according to Precision. The company claims it has the only PET-CT scanner in the region.

With the donation, Dr. Kevin Tracey of Precision says the companywants to have the scanner repaired early next week.
