2 dead, 2 kids with life-threatening injuries following Vaughan crash

A 65-year-old man and a nine-year-old boy are dead after a daytime collision in Vaughan near Toronto, with a 29-year-old man facing charges of impaired driving causing death.

One man and one child are dead after a three-car collision on Sunday afternoon in Vaughan near Toronto.

Police several hours later identified the deceased as a nine-year-old boy and a 65-year-old man.

Four other people suffered bad injuries: two children under 10 years old were transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, while two women are in stable condition with serious injuries.

"It's a very serious collision," York Regional Police Const.AndyPattenden said of the T-bone crash that happenedjust after 4 p.m. ETat the intersection of Kirby Road and Kipling Avenue, northeast of Kleinburg.

All of the dead and seriously injured were occupants of the same vehicle, while two persons from another vehicle which was damaged managed to escape injury.

Police arrested the driver of the third vehicle, a 29-year-old man from King Township.

He is being charged with impaired driving causing death and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Newmarket on Monday.
