2 men sentenced to jail for assaulting TTC employees in separate incidents

Two men have been sentenced to jail for assaulting TTC employees, according to the transit agency.

Two men have been sentenced to jail for assaulting TTC employees, according to the transit agency.

Moses Sanderson, 61, has been sentenced to four monthsin jail for slapping a female customer service ambassador working at Bloor-YongeStation and spitting at her and another employee in August.

TTC special constables arrested Sanderson shortly after the incident. He hasa criminal record that includes three previous incidents of assaulting streetcar operators.

Sanderson pleaded guilty to the charges and has also been placed on probation for a year and ordered to stay away from TTC property.

27-year-old punched bus driver

MathewLidster, 27, has also been sentenced to around four months in jail for aseparateincident that took place in July in which he punched abus driver in the headwithout warning, the TTC said.

Toronto police arrested Lidster and charged him with assault. He pleaded guilty and has also been placed on probation for two years in addition to the jail time.

On average, one to two employees are assaulted every day and even more are threatened physically, according to the TTC.
