Teenager injured in downtown stabbing during Nuit Blanche

A 17-year-old male is undergoing surgery after a stabbing in downtown Toronto during Nuit Blanche Saturday night.

Police say the stabbing occurred as part of a fight at Yonge and Shuter Streets

A 17-year-old maleremains in hospital in stable condition after a stabbing in downtown Toronto during Nuit Blanche Saturday night.

Toronto police said the male teenager was stabbed at Yonge and Shuter Streets just before midnight. The stabbing occurred as part of a fight and police said a group of men may be responsible.

Toronto paramedics said he was taken to a trauma centre in critical condition at 11:57 p.m.

Sandra McLeod, deputy commander of Toronto Paramedic Services, said paramedics were flagged at the intersection of Yongeand Shuter Streets.

"It was part of the NuitBlanche celebration," she said.

Five or six maleswere seen running southbound on YongeStreetafter the stabbing.

Police said no suspects have yetbeen arrested and officers continue tocanvassthe area.
