Man, 20, still in surgery after shooting on Finch Avenue West

Toronto police are searching for a suspect after a man was wounded in a shooting on Finch Avenue West this morning.

Toronto police continue to searchfor a suspect after a 20-year-old man was wounded in a shooting on Finch Avenue West Wednesdaymorning.

Police received a call around 9:30 a.m.. They arrivedat Finch Avenue West and Pittsboro Drive, near Martin Grove Road andfound a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Hewastaken to hospital.

On Wednesday evening police told CBC News they were told the man is stillinsurgery.

Const. Alyson Douglas-Cook said investigators willlookinto the possibility that the incident could be linked to previous shootingsin the Rexdaleneighbourhood, where just weeks ago, a pregnant woman diedafter being shot in the backseat of a car.

"That'sdefinitely aconcern especially when it is is in close proximity to that incident but it's too soon to tell," Douglas Cook said.

The shooting puttwo schools, Elmbank Junior Middle Academy and Father Henry Carr Catholic Secondary School, on lockdown briefly, while a third, Greenholme Junior Middle School, wason hold and secure.

Police with canine units continue to canvas the area looking for witnesses.
