York Regional Police released night-vision video of an impaired driver who allegedly fell asleep at the wheel then fled from police before slamming into a light pole.

Police released the video, which was captured from a police helicopter,with a warning to other motorists to report any driver they think may be impaired.

The incident itself took place around 4:20 a.m. on Feb. 15 on Major Mackenzie Drive in Richmond Hill. Police said officers were called to the scene by another motorist, who spotted an unmoving vehicle.

When an officer knocked on the driver's window, they fled. Moments later, they slammed into a light pole and police moved in for the arrest.

Nobody was seriously injured.

Police say the driver, a 30-year-old man from Toronto,faces multiple charges including impaired driving.
