Ontario now investigating 102 people for potential exposure to coronavirus

Ontario has seen a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases under investigation, although the number of confirmed cases remains the same on Wednesday.

Number of negative cases also climbing, according to provincial health data

Ontario has seen a sharp increase in the number of coronavirus cases under investigation, although the number of confirmed cases remainsthe same on Wednesday.

There have been20 confirmedCOVID-19 cases in Ontario, with 17 people still being treated for the illness. Three people have recovered.

As of Tuesday, 45 people were being investigated to see if they have COVID-19. That number has climbed to 102 as of Wednesday morning, according to the province's website that tracks the spread of the disease.

The number of negative cases has also climbed, from 1,061 to 1,216.

Confirmed cases from this week have been linked to travel toIran or Egypt, or in those whose family members had just returned from a trip to those countries.

As a result, travellers arriving in Canada from Iran are now being asked to self-isolate for two weeks to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Amidgrowing concernover the spread ofcoronavirus, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. David Williams says all health protocols have been followed and the risk of infection in this province remains low.

Almost all of the confirmed cases have been found in the Greater Toronto Area.
