A 55-year-old man has died in hospital after he was involved in an eight-vehicle collision in Milton, Ont. Friday afternoon, police say. The collision happened at the intersection of Derry Road and Ontario Street S.

A 55-year-old man has died in hospital after he was involved in an eight-vehicle collision in Milton, Ont. Friday afternoon, police say.

The collision happened around 5 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Derry Road and Ontario Street S., Halton police said in a news release on Sunday.

A 35-year-old man driving a GMC Sierra westbound on Derry Road collided with several cars near the intersection, police say, before itcrossedthe median and overturned.

The Sierra then struck several eastbound vehicles, including a Toyota Corolla driven by the 55-year-old man,police say. He was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

In Sunday's news release, police said the man had died from his injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who has video footage of the incident to come forward.
