Man hurt by falling glass in downtown Toronto

Toronto police say a man was hurt by glass that fell from a downtown hotel late Tuesday morning.

Const. Wendy Drummond told CBC News that police received a call about the incident near University Avenue and Adelaide Street Westshortly before noon.

The 53-year-old man was reportedly hit in the head by the glass. A Toronto EMS spokesperson said that one patient was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The hotel, Shangri-La, is a hot spot for attendees of the Toronto International Film Festival, and has a popular noodle bar in its lobby. There is high foot traffic in thearea surrounding the hotel.

Richard Cooke, the hotel's manager, told The Canadian Press that a small fragment of glass came off the building.
