Person dead at King City construction site, York police say

York Regional Police say a person diedat a construction site in King City on Tuesday.

Police said the construction site is located on King Road between Jane and Keele streets. Officers were called to the area shortly before 6:30 p.m.

The person was pronounced dead on the scene.

York paramedics, Township of King City firefighters are there.

Ontario's Ministry of Labour was notified that the worker became trapped in a trench, resulting in fatal injuries, ministry spokesperson Manuel Alas-Sevillano said in an email Wednesday. The ministry is now investigating the incident, he said.

"Our thoughts are with the family and colleagues of the person who passed away," Alas-Sevillano said.

No other details were immediately available.
