Dufferin Street no longer Ontario's worst road, CAA says

Dufferin Street's three-year reign as the worst road in Ontario has come to an ingloriousend.

The crumbling, potholed thoroughfare was bumped from the top spot of the Canadian Automobile Association's annual round-up of the province's most degraded roads by Algonquin Boulevard east and west in Timmins.

The CAA says the rest of the top five include Highway 144 in Greater Sudbury and Carling Avenuein Ottawa, which was also among the top 10 in last year's poll.

Rounding out the top 10 are Port Dover's Radical Road, Burlington StreetEastin Hamilton, Riverside Drivein Timmins, Dominion Roadin Fort Erie and Bayview Avenuein Toronto.

The rankings are based on four-weeks of online voting.The auto club says 90 per cent of participants say potholes and crumbling pavement were the reason why they voted.

The CAA also breaks down the rankings by region. In Toronto, the top five worst roads were: Dufferin Street, Bayview Avenue, Markham Road, Kipling Avenue and Lawrence Avenue East.
