CUPE education workers to begin job action September 10

Support workers at Ontario school boards to start work-to-rule action during first week of classes.

Support workers at Ontarioschool boardswillenter the first stage of escalating job action on September 10.

Staff at Ontario's public,Catholic, English and Frenchschool boards will start work-to-rule action during the first week of classes.

As many as 55,000 employees will be affected. The workers represented include educational assistants, office administrators, custodians, library technicians, early childhood educators, IT specialists andothers

"Our members' work is important to student success in our schools," said TerriPreston,chair ofCUPE'sOntario School Boards Coordinating Committee (OSBCC).

The OSBCCfiled their intentions to the province on Thursday evening.

"We need all parties to understand how serious our members are about the services we provide and being treated with respect at work," Preston said.
