College Street Bar sold amid gang sexual assault investigation

The Toronto bar inside which two men are alleged to have confined and then sexually assaulted a woman for hours in December has been sold.

The Toronto bar inside which two men are alleged to have confined and then sexually assaulted a woman for hours in December has been sold.

College Street Bar closed earlier this year after Toronto police charged one of the bar's owners and its manager in connection with the alleged attack on a 24-year-old woman.

Investigators say that owner Gavin MacMillan and the venue's manager, Enzo De Jesus Carrasco,kept the woman confined in the bar from the evening of Dec. 14 until the early hours of Dec. 15.

Bar to remain closed until August

Both men's bail conditions ban them from returning to the bar. And had the bar not voluntarily closed, its liquor licence would have been revoked, Tracey Cook, the head of Municipal Licensing and Standardstold CBC Toronto in February.

The bar was sold on April 28, but it has not yet been finalized,city spokesperson TammyRobbinsonsaid Friday. The city's licensing tribunal agreed on Thursday to extend the voluntary closure of the bar until August 2.

MacMillan, 41, is facing charges of forcible confinement, trafficking in schedule substance, failure to comply with recognizance, and four counts of gang sexual assault.

Carrasco, 31, is facing charges of forcible confinement, trafficking in schedule substance, four counts of gang sexual assault, and three counts of sexual assault.
