Less than a week after raising the Thunder Pride and Rainbow flags at Thunder Bay city hall, the city is flying them at half-mast.

Thunder Bay mayor Keith Hobbs also issued a statement Monday morning in the wake of the fatal shootings in Orlando, Fla.

"Our city offers sincerest condolences and supports the families of those that were killed in the mass shooting in Orlando," he said in a press release issued by the city.

"It is unspeakable that as many as 50 lives have been lost to this domestic terror attack. There is no place for hate in our communities, and we stand strongly with Orlando and the LGBTQ2S+ community."

"In the face of hate and violence, we should love one another," the statement continued. "We should not give in to fear or turn against each other. Instead, we should stand together, side-by-side, and recognize the importance of human dignity."

49 people have been confirmed killed by gunman OmarMateen on Sunday at Pulse Orlando, a Florida nightclub. Another 53 were reported injured.

On June 8, Thunder Bay raised the Thunder Pride and Rainbow flags at city hall.

The city will fly all of the flags at half-mast in wake of the tragedy.
