Thunder Bay Police arrest six in property crime spree

Five youths and one adult have been arrested in a two-month-long string of vehicle thefts and break-and-enters.

Thunder Bay Police have charged sixpeople in connection with a two-month-long property crime spree in Thunder Bay and the surrounding area.

Police said Thursday they arrested a 16-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man on Mondaynear a stolen vehicle abandoned on Merrill Street following an earlier attempt by police to stop it. The vehiclehad been reported missing frm a Hazelwood Drive residence.

Both accused were charged with Possession of Stolen Property over $5,000.

On Wednesdaythey arrested a 15-year-old girl, a 16-year-old boy, a 17-year-old boy and a 48-year-old man at an apartment on GrenvilleAvenue, shortly after recovering two more stolen vehicles intheMerrilland Grenvilleareas.

Police charged the 15-year-old girl with two counts of Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime and one count of Possession of a Controlled Substance.

They charged the 16-year-old boy withtwo counts of Possession of Stolen Property, two counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking and one count of Obstruct Peace Officer.

The 17-year-old boy is charged with three counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, three counts of Breach of Probation, two counts of Fail to Comply with Recognizance and one count each of Carry a Concealed Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicleand Flight from Police.

The adult male has been charged withtwo counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
